The Emergency Tree Board is being developed as an independent public-information resource for tree hazards, storm preparedness, verified updates, and responsible community reporting across Mobile and the central Gulf Coast.
Current operating level
Level 0 — Normal
No public reporting operation is active. Preparedness information and the reporting workflow preview remain available while moderation, storage, and mapping controls are completed.
Safety priorities
Know what requires immediate action.
Tree failures can create electrical, structural, traffic, access, and falling-object hazards. Do not approach a damaged tree merely to obtain a better photograph.
Document non-emergency damage
Photographs, approximate location, access conditions, and a clear description will support future triage and professional evaluation.
Avoid preventable exposure
Stay away from suspended limbs, split trunks, leaning trees, flooded root zones, and any tree or branch contacting electrical conductors.
Operating framework
Four levels define when the platform is active.
Operating levels prevent a preparedness website from appearing to be an active dispatch or reporting system when no event operation has been opened.
Level 0 — Normal
No active tree-related weather operation. Preparedness and educational information remain available.
Level 1 — Monitoring
Potential weather impacts are being watched. No public report map is active.
Level 2 — Activated
A qualifying weather event is affecting the area and public non-emergency reports may be accepted.
Level 3 — Recovery
The immediate event has passed, but verified obstruction and damage information may remain active.
Reporting workflow
Reports support awareness—not emergency dispatch.
The planned system will collect public-safe information about storm-damaged trees and blocked access. Exact residential addresses will not be displayed publicly by default, and every submission will remain subject to screening and verification.

Future map layers may include verified obstruction reports, major tree failures, public-access impacts, operational status, and resolved reports. The map will not replace official emergency, utility, or municipal systems.
